Pop-up stores and smart personalised services are on the rise in South Korea’s cosmetics market. Shinsegae Group’s beauty select store chain, Chicor has just announced the launch of their new pop-up store in Daejeon. The outlet will feature a smart mirror powered by Artificial intelligence (AI) that helps customers choose their ideal products.
The pop-up store will be split into two zones: an experience zone and a sales zone. The smart mirror is in the former, where customers can have their skins diagnosed or learn makeup for different skin types. The smart mirror also provides a make up demo on customers’ faces using in-store products. The customers can then proceed to the sales zone to buy the recommended items if they wish to.
With recent technological advancements as well as the increase in demand of millennials, AI is making its way into the beauty industry. Chicor’s goal is to be the exemplary beauty select shop that incorporates AI in the market:
“Non-face-to-face shopping has emerged as a trend, and digitalization has become a necessity in the cosmetics industry, not an option. We will introduce Chicor’s differentiated beauty tech service that combines K-beauty with new technologies,” says Kim Myo-soon, Executive Director of Shinsegae’s cosmetics and miscellaneous goods.
